7th Grade
Students completed a K-W-L regarding sentence structure, phrases and literary devices. The defined the terms and provided examples. They highlighted every term that they did not know. We did went over the terms in class so that everyone has a definition and example.
9th Grade
Students completed the vocabulary quiz for the “The Gift of the Magi”. We then went over subject verb agreement in class using examples from the story “The Lady, or the Tiger” They then completed the grammar exercise on page 307 of their Language Arts book.

We looked at personification by reviewing two poems “I Am of the Earth” and “Early Song.” After reviewing each line of “I Am of the Earth” students were to convert the lines to Prose. Tomorrow we will take a closer look at “Early Song.”
9th Grade

Students reviewed the different types of Point of View. Your home work is to re-write the bedroom scene from Little Red Robin Hood from a different point of view. If you choose 1st Person they can re-write it from the wolf’s perspective or any of the other characters.

Students took an open book exam on Elizabeth I. They also have an essay that they may finish at home. The prompt options are as follows:
How does this biographer feel about Elizabeth? Is his narrative balanced? Is he mostly objective as a biographer, or is he very subjective in his account of Elizabeth? Find details from the biography to support your answers.
OR
Write down one opinion you formed as you read about Elizabeth. What facts led you to form that opinion?
9th Grade

Students went over SQR3 notes and they were allowed to retake the “Exile Eyes” test if needed. Tonight’s homework is to write an original sentence for the following vocabulary words: charred, ascend and enthralled.
9th Grade
Students went over character traits and discussed how understanding Odysseus’s traits can help us make inferences about his decisions. Tonight’s homework is to find two sources to write a bibliography/note card. The source can be a magazine, newspaper, book, encyclopedia or website. On each index card, they are to write a summary note card on one side and the bibliography card on the other side.
